Earmolds and Ear Plugs

Custom Earmolds

Patients who wear traditional behind-the-ear hearing aids will often use a custom earmold. Custom earmolds are necessary for certain hearing losses, but can also provide benefit for greater retention and personal comfort.  Earmold manufacturers use a silicone or acrylic material to create a comfortable well-fitting earmold.

Custom Hearing Protectors

Sudden or prolonged exposure to noise can cause damage to your hearing and is one of the leading causes of hearing loss. Hearing protection devices are necessary when you are in the presence of loud noises, including factory work, lawn care, shooting, farm equipment, machinery, and loud music. Benefits of custom hearing protection include providing maximum protection and a comfortable fit since they are designed specifically for your ears. Custom hearing protection also provides excellent retention, reducing the concern for loss or accidental removal.

Swim Plugs

Swim plugs are custom made to keep water from entering the ear canal.  These plugs are beneficial for individuals prone to outer ear infections and those who have middle ear issues and need to keep their ears dry while bathing and washing their hair.  Active swimmers also like to use these to keep water from entering the ear canal.

Custom swim plugs do the best job at keeping water and bacteria from entering the ear, because they are molded specifically to fit the user’s ear. These devices provide excellent retention and float if accidentally dropped in the water.

Musician and Communication Earmolds

Sometimes it is necessary to reduce the loudness of noise but still hear the critical information in speech or music.  These molds have special filters which attenuate harmful noise without distorting speech or music.
